How do I remove an object from a video online?

Do I have to select the object on every frame?

No. You click it once and we track it through the rest of the clip. If the tracking drifts on a particular frame, add a point there to correct it — on most clips you won't need to.

Do I need to click precisely?

Accepted Answer

No. Click anywhere inside the object and the AI finds its edges. A rough click on the middle of a person selects the whole person — you don't trace anything.

What if it selects the wrong thing?

Clicking someone's jacket might select just the jacket instead of the whole person. Add another point on the part you also want included and the selection expands. You see all of this before anything renders, so adjusting costs you nothing.

Can I use the results commercially?

Yes. The model behind the removal was trained entirely on licensed data, so the output is safe for commercial work — client projects, ads, product listings, anything. That isn't true of every tool in this category.

MP4 and MOV, up to 32 MB. We process clips up to 5 seconds, at 30fps or below. Audio comes back untouched on the output.

Can I remove more than one object at a time?

Yes. Mark as many objects as you need in the same pass. Heavy overlap between them can reduce the result quality.

How long does processing take?

Anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes, depending on the clip. Higher resolutions and multiple objects add time. You'll see progress in the editor.

What happens to the background where the object was?

Accepted Answer

It gets reconstructed. The model generates what was most likely behind the object, using the surrounding frames as reference. When the camera moves, that's often literally what was there; on a locked-off shot it's a plausible fill.

Does it work if the camera is moving?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and often better than on a static shot. Camera movement reveals more of the background, which gives the model more real information to work from.

When does it not work well?

Heavy motion blur, objects mostly hidden behind something else, shadows and reflections cast by the object (those stay unless you mark them too), and objects that fill most of the frame — if there's very little background left, there's very little to rebuild from. Short single-shot clips with a clearly visible object give the best results.

How is this different from blurring or pixelating?

Accepted Answer

Blurring covers the object; the shape stays and everyone can tell something was hidden. Removal rebuilds the background so there's nothing to notice. Blur is right when you're anonymizing a face or a plate — everywhere else it just advertises the problem.
